SEC Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Monitor
The SEC Ethylene Oxide (EtO) Sterilization
Monitor is a single source dual wavelength
instrument for applications requiring
continuous EtO monitoring. Infrared sensing
and reference elements are self-compensating
for optical integrity and other signal
inhibitors. An industry standard analog
output provides complete remote alarm,
fault and calibration signals. The analog
output from the device can be connected
to chart recorders, data acquisition systems
or a sterilizer control system.
This compact device weighing only 18 ounces
is designed to be mounted non-intrusively
through a 3/4" port in the wall of
a chamber and/or circulation pipe to accurately
measure the concentration of ethylene
oxide during a sterilization cycle.
The SEC EtO employs a simple, directly
opposed optical system. No mirrors or
reflecting surfaces are used in this device.
The anodized aluminum housing surfaces
of the optical chamber are heated to discourage
condensation. Sapphire windows are used
to protect the optics eliminating the
corrosive effects of EtO.
Once the unit is spanned to a specific
mid range EtO concentration (a one time
operation), routine calibration consists
of only re-zeroing the device periodically.
