New Detection System Spots Leaking Methane in Truck, Bus Garages

 
     A new methane – detection system that can “see even tiny gas leaks in methane (LNG) – powered equipment has been developed by Sensor Electronics.
 
     Engineered for truck/bus garages, repair and diesel/LNG conversion shops, test bays and park ramps, the new detection system can spot leaks small as 100 ppm.
 
     This sophisticated detection system reacts only to LNG (methane), ignoring diesel and gasoline fumes, engine exhaust, oil mist, temperature and humidity extremes.
 
      The system uses special sensors sensitive only to methane (LNG); factory-tuned transmitters to show actual real-time methane levels on digital readout panels; LED’s that glow green/amber/red if methane levels increase; and a control console monitoring up to 250 sensor/transmitter teams.
 
      The console can show a “road map” of the entire security operation, or zero in on one specific sensor.  It can also show overviews of, say, outer drives, stairwells, individual offices, and similar areas.
 
     In case of dangerous methane levels, the console pinpoints the specific detector and surrounding area.  It can also turn on sirens and alarm lights, flash alerts to nearby fire and police departments and turn on supply/exhaust fans to flood the area with outside air.
 
     This methane-detection system even keeps a beady eye on itself:  Troubles anywhere in the entire network are spelled out on the digital screen, showing what’s wrong where.
