New Installation at a CNG Maintenance and Storage Facility

CNG Transit Maintenance and Storage Facility

AMTRAN in Altoona, PA installed a SMC (Sierra Monitor Corporation) combustible gas detection system in their Maintenance and Storage transit facility in 2018. The system consists of nine gas detectors, one gas monitoring controller, 24 VDC power supply and battery backup A/V devices. The SMC system started failing after the warranty period was over. SMC charged AMTRAN $2,000 each for the replacing the faulty gas detectors.
After replacing three faulty gas detectors, AMTRAN approached Sensor Electronics (SEC) to replace the SMC gas detection system. SEC visited the site, verified reusing the existing wiring, conduit, calibration gas tubing, power supply and alarms. SEC confirmed all the existing could be used and only the gas detectors and gas monitoring controller needed to be replaced.

Upon receiving the price quotation, AMTRAN purchased the SEC equipment. The SEC equipment was shipped one week after receipt of order. The SMC was system removed and replaced with SEC equipment in 6 hours. The SEC system was fully functional and put into service 10 days after purchase order was released.
